Dear all,
Many thanks to those that responded with suggestions – Bert, Thomas,
Hasan, Matthias, and Ivan – and also the personnel at Bruker (Lance
Ballard especially) for their assistance. It turns out that several weeks ago
we swapped over our antivirus program from Symantec to Defender and last week
was the first time we had rebooted the instrument since the change, and then
encountered problems (first strange error messages, then on a second attempt
to reboot, failure). Swapping back to Symantec – even though IT assured
us this was not the problem and they could not find any blocks in this respect
– and with multiple attempts at rebooting we were finally able to get
the system running again. Not a productive week I have to say. Anyway, I have
attached a list of things to check if rebooting is a problem with most suggestions
coming from Bruker.
Many thanks again to all.
K. Klika

Hi,
Also be sure to check windows firewall settings as well as any external
ethernet connection.
Try a simple test: unplug the second Ethernet cable from the NMR PC, press
the Ipso reset button and see if it boots now.
I recently had a case where pinging 149.236.99.x got a reply from an actual
computer “out there” on the internet which interfered with
traffic to the console. The external IT company managing this customer’s
PCs had to come up with a routing script for their firewall/antivirus system to
prevent this address range from being directed to the outside world which prevented
the console from booting…
Cheers
Bert
