Dear members of the AMMRL community,
we have been experiencing a recurring issue with our BACS sample changer
connected to an Avance II 300 MHz spectrometer.
The error message “downwards motion failed” appears regularly,
even though the vertical cylinder moves down correctly.
In a first try, we replaced the entire vertical cylinder with another unit,
but unfortunately without success. The error continued to occur.
In a second attempt, we replaced the entire BACS sample changer with another
unit that had become available after decommissioning an older spectrometer.
This BACS unit had previously operated reliably. However, the same error
(“downwards motion failed”) occurred again, which led us to
revert back to the original BACS. The error still persists.
We also reconnected the RemoteControl port (and exchanged the cable) on the
BSMS to a different socket and updated the corresponding setting in “cf”.
The sample changer can be addressed correctly via IconNMR and the “rstest”
tool but the error continued to occur
In addition, we regularly receive the error message “Sample Detect
at Magnet Failed” when attempting to place the sample on the lift.
We would greatly appreciate any suggestions regarding the potential cause
of the issue or further diagnostic steps.
Greetings
Philipp Hegemann
