We have a seemingly intractable acquisition issue with TopSpin acquisition.
I have been talking with Bruker, but we have not reached a solution.
I am hoping some of you have seen and dealt with something similar.
We have a Bruker Avance Neo 600, which was converted from Agilent DD2 when
it was exclusively solids with Phoenix style probes, and updated with a Bruker
diffusion probe, around January 2023. We have been updating TopSpin and firmware
(primarily ECLB and MAS3) regularly and is running TS4.4.1 since 4 weeks ago.
The OS has been CentOS 7.
Several months ago we started noticing in solids experiments "ACB error" in
the "Amplifier Control" window in the Acqusition StatusTaskbar, also the
reporting of NS in the "Acquisition Information" window froze in a random manner,
but the experiment time countdown continues. When the experiment finished and
we were able to process and the data quality was as good as before.
I had discussions with Bruker hotline then. It was thought this was a
communication issue. But there was also some discussions about power
handling. But we operate the probes well within the specs.
But this turns out not to be solids specific issue. Three weeks ago we
changed to diffusion probe. We experienced much more serious issue.
TopSpin hangs a lot. What I see a lot is that when starting an experiment,
it often get stuck "loading TRX2" and eventually puts out an error message:
--
Cannot run single acquisition:
Cannot load complex amplifier at 192.168.99.12:
AqRackClientL Cannot load routing of amplifiers in subnets:
Error in "loadComplexAmpRouting": Cannot set output routing for BLAC2 at
IP 192.168.99.12: Error in communication:
Lib SoapError(errorCode -1): Error in GetWebServiceVersion:
SOAP 1.1 fault: SOAP-ENV:Client [no subcode]
"Timeout"
Detail: connect failed in tcp_connect()
--
(Looking back on the old error messages, we can see sometimes it was TRX1
which got hung; but the majority of it is TRX2.)
When you read it and clicked "Close", if there are queued experiment, TS will
attempt the next experiment right away (maybe 30% successful of the time) it
will go through loading (TRX2, SGU, etc) the next experiment and run.
Very soon the "amplifier control" freezes again, but time countdown continues.
It will finish the experiment, and the data will be just as good as expected.
I have rebooted epu a number of times which did not make a difference.
I was told to disconnect the ethernet cable to the internet and to see if
there is any interference with the spectrometer. I find it strange
when the ethernet cable is unplugged, the next TopSpin command will hung.
When I quit TS, disconnect internet, and relaunch TS, TS will not launch with
warning "Data Server" cannot be reached. It is extremely odd the
spectrometer will simply not work if the host computer is not connected to
the internet. It makes no sense at all.
