Hi All,
We are having some issues with Bruker spinners being recognized/loaded into
magnets. If anyone has any insight into how samples are recognized
in Bruker's sample changers, we would be grateful to hear more about it.
I'll provide some information below on our specific issues:
*24 position temp regulated sample changer (SampleCase):* We have this unit
installed on our 850, and it clearly favors the clear/KEL-F 3mm spinners (which
seem a bit heavier than the blue POM spinners). These clear spinners usually
load without any problems. However, Bruker's 3mm blue (POM) spinners will
not load into the magnet most times. The changer will pickup the sample and
float it over the bore (indicating it's not a gas pressure issue), but it will
not lower it into the magnet. We also have some semi-clear 3D printed
spinners, and these will not load either most of the time.
*60 position sample changer (Sample Xpress):* We have two units installed
(on 400,500) and both units have the same exact model number. On the newer
unit (500), we are able to use 3D printed spinners without any problems.
On the older unit (400), it refuses to load the same exact spinners.
Bruker's blue POM spinners work fine on both instruments as do their other spinners
that are quite different in weight (KEL-F, PEEK). We have also weight matched
the 3D printed spinners, so that doesn't seem to be a factor on these units.
We are wondering if its the color, weight, or material that is causing the
inconsistencies in these automation units (ie, are the sensors in the sample
changers particular to any of these properties). So far, everything
seems to indicate that weight is not the problem here (ie, the 60 position
changers even handle much heavier j. young type tubes).
Thanks,
