Hey Samrat

We also see some failure to loads but mainly on our two SampleExpress (60
positions on 400 MHz). Also, we only use POM spinners in 5mm on these systems.
When it happens the tube is released and drops 1 to 2 inches then stops. So
this puts it below the release so it is not catching on that. This is the
smooth part of the SampleExpress, that would mimic the bore. We clean this
area and spinners often, and the users do not touch the spinners so should
not be build up. We have marked spinners to see if it is certain ones and
holder positions too, we see no correlation. I can tell you on our systems
we see a fine line between gas pressure and being able to insert/eject while
using the POM spinners. If we up the pressure the spinners wobble more and
get jammed as they insert/eject. Decrease the gas a hair and then they may
not eject the J-youngs. We also wipe off the sensors and parts of the
cassettes on a regular basis. These 2 systems are our work horses each
running 100+ samples a day so 1 failure to drop a week while annoying is
not a bad failure rate.

Since we see this behavior on 5mm POM on a variety of tubes, short, tall,
thick wall, and J-young, I would agree weight is not the main issue.

On our SampleCase 24 we vary rarely have any issues again only POM spinners
but 3 and 5 mm are used.

We have one SampleExpress Lite and it has similar issues to the regular
SampleExpress but this system also uses the ceramic spinners, so air pressure
is higher. On this system we have had spinners get stuck in the bore part
way, but we think this may have been partially the users fault.

So if anyone has any insight or suggestions to improve things we would be
glad to hear it.

Greg
