Solaris and CD-R from Windows

We are testing a backup system by transferring files from our Ultra 10
(Varian Unity 400) to a Windows PC, then using a 'Backpack' CD Writer to
create a CD. When we try to read the CD on the Ultra 10, the filenames are
truncated, and a '.' is added to the fid, log, procpar and text files. This
makes them unreadable by VNMR.

Is there a way to configure the Ultra 10 to correctly read the full
filenames from the CDROM, and prevent the problem with
fid.
log.
procpar.
text.
?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
