I think this may have something to do with "GROUP" membership.
What operating system are you using?
My guess is that when you login using a different userid, that the
userid is not a member of the group "nmruser" (or group "nmrsu"). It
doesn't need to be the "Primary Group." But that new userid must be a
member of nmruser in order to gain full functionality in TopSpin.
Depending on which operating system you are using, there are different
ways to go about adding/changing "group" memberships.
After you have added the "nmruser" group membership, you probably don't
need to reboot, but I would just to make sure that the new group is
recognized.
Then login and TopShim should work fine for you.
