Hello Anne
It seems like the GAB/2 unit is defective. If you have another instrument
with a GAB/2, you could try swapping out the suspect GAB/2 with a
known-to-be-working GAB/2 from another spectrometer. If you have a
different probe for the instrument, you could test for a probe fault.
Ditto for the gradient cable.
