Hi Brian,

Great tohear it worked!
Unfortunately the F1 rating is unknown to me - Varian/Agilent never made VNMRS schematics
publicly available… I’d guess some 200-500 mA - the board can’t draw that much.
That said I have never come across any defective adapter board other than having this fuse
blown (which does happen occasionally)- my guess is it’s under-spec’d…
I could consider measuring its rating once by unsoldering an intact fuse and increasing the
current until it blows ;-)

Thank you for all of your suggestions and offers.  Bert was spot on with the culprit!   
We added a little jumper across the F1 fuse and now the ethernet port lights up on the card
and my system is fully functional.  Having a faulty second channel creates a lot of non
intuitive effects.  We could see a lock level, however could not observe a 2H signal for setting
Z0 (field) nor to 2H gradient shim.  Getting a proper synthesizer signal solved all of it.  
 
Bert do you (or anyone else here) know the current rating for the fuse(F1)?   
My colleague builds custom IC boards, so he can fix it correctly if he knows the proper fuse to buy.
