Hi all,

Ah well, it got all resolved - I unfortunately fell victim to a rather nasty Topspin bug:
The underlying problem turned out to be a communication issue with a BACS autosampler
which was configured on tty04 and could not be talked to because of a cable issue.

The bug (TS 3.7!and 3.2 alike) lies in “cf” not properly completing the
HPPR detection stage (with “done” message after detecting the last preamp) but
getting stuck before reporting “done”.
Shoutout to Pavel Yushmanov who suggested to briefly unplug the IPSO ethernet cable
at the stuck stage which finally got cf past that stage, now reporting a config error
about not finding the BACS - while the “done” message is still missing!
This bug let me to believe the entire time that something is wrong with HPPR detection
whereas they were completely not guilty - several spare parts were sent which of course didn’t
fix the issue because nothing was wrong with either ethernet, firewall, DRU, PSD3, HPPR cover
or power supplies…

Thanks again to everyone who chipped in - that was a quite a lesson to learn! Does anyone
know if newer autosamplers (which are talked to via ethernet) still lead cf to stop in its
tracks in case it can’t be talked to?

All the best
Bert
