Hi folks,
Attempting to use one of our BCU-II's vintage 2015 and not getting cooling.
Obviously I could send this back to Bruker and wait an inordinate amount of
time and/or pay an inordinate amount of money, but I'm cheap and impatient
so trying to see what I can realistically repair myself.
Symptoms are:
1. Turn cooling on at any power level in vtudisp/edte, or using the manual
rotary switch on the front.
1. Compressor turns on, as does the cooling fan. The R404A stage warms up,
but the R508B stage doesn't seem to do anything.
1. Temperature of outgoing gas at probe does not change.
1. After a few minutes TopSpin gives up with the following sequence of errors:
* BSMS Error: Error Supply pressure out of range (on BFB-Channel 'Emulated on TTY1')
* VTU Error: BSCU signals Overpressure
* BSMS Error: Error: Illegal parameter / command (on BFB-Channel 'Accessory CH1')
Flushing the unit with dry gas made no material difference.
Dust filters are fine.
Any suggestions?
I've spoken to our usual A/C maintenance contractors and as its a sealed unit,
current UK rules mean that if the refrigerant has escaped, they can't recharge
it until they've tracked down the leak, and that is not necessarily
straightforward to do. Also, the R508B in the lowest temperature stage is a
specialist gas that they don't have lying around, so I'd have to find specialist
contractors for that anyway.
I suspect this is beyond DIYable but thought it was worth a try anyway...
