Re: [AMMRL] Bruker SampleCase error

Hi All,

I too got frustrated with the SampleCase+ arm spring (and am holding off on
any firmware updates until I have no other choice). I ended up replacing the
spring with the following from McMaster Carr and it works great:

302 Stainless Steel Corrosion-Resistant Extension Spring
with Loop Ends, 1" Long, 0.125" OD, 0.016" Wire Diameter 94135K164

It’s a little shorter than the stock spring and a little thicker,
so it puts more force on the arm in the home position. I believe that the
extra length of the SampleCase+ arm puts a bit of torque on the bearing that
supports it. This is compounded by a bit of a burr that increases friction
even more. The stronger spring serves to help overcome the stickiness but
is still not strong enough to break a 5mm (or even 3mm) tube if too tall.

Of course, the spring replacement is at your own risk. Neither I nor my
employer are responsible if anything goes wrong :)

Best Regards,
Sean
