Thanks for your insights. I too have seen the increased sensitivity of the
red bar. However, I am pretty sure this is not the cause of the "System not
Ready” error. The error message is not the same and I have witnessed
the changer turn red with the communication error. I will test this tomorrow
to see how Icon behaves after the bar is tripped but I do not think this is
the same issue.
BTW, you should be able to clear the SampleCase but pushing down the Emergency
Stop button and then pulling it out.

something very similar after upgrading to TS3.7.0. Fortunately, i have an older
AVII that also has a SampleCase (that cannot be upgraded) so I was able to do a
side-by-side comparison.
After the update to 3.7.0, and importantly the irreversible firmware update, even
the slightest bump of the red bar under the transport tube will shutdown the SampleCase.
Previously, you had to really press into it and hold it for a second before this would
happen. After all, it's meant to detect an overly long NMR tube from breaking, not
to prevent a finger from scuffing a nail. I don't recall the error on screen, but
the symptom was the same in that this shut down the SampleCase and the automation.
After much whining accompanied by frequent complaints to anyone who would listen, I was
ultimately told that this was a requirement by Pharma (safety compliance) and would not
be rolled back, ie. deal with it. Grumble, grumble, grumble....
Our solution was a big sign saying DON'T TOUCH THE RED BAR and student users have since
been more careful about removing or putting in the samples in that area.
Apparently, it is impossible to add this as an optional toggle for Pharma/Academia. This
is an example of why users are often reticent to update their TS versions.
I think this is likely the same issue you are dealing with.
