Our 500 MHz VNMRS (DDR1) system has been having intermittent lock channel
issues for a month or so. It really only surfaced as shimming failures and
only happened with one specific user who likes to use mixed solvents. Every
time this problem occurred, I ran some basic tests (lineshape, gradient profile,
etc.) and everything worked fine, so I was convinced the problem was their
samples. However, we started getting errors on most samples this past Thursday
and then on Friday the lock control board started giving an error pattern in
the blinking yellow lights.
*Error signal on the lock control board:*
The LEDs alternate between two states:
only DS2 + DS5 illuminated
only DS4 illuminated
Is there a list somewhere of what the various error codes are for these boards?
The other boards all have the normal "running" LEDs.
Power cycling doesn't change anything.
I've done some simple checking of the connections on the lock path.
There's no obvious problem with the power supplies.
*Console power supply:*
measured (expected)
+3.3 (3.3)
+5.0 (5.0)
+7.7 (7.6)
+10.9 (10.5)
-10.7 (-10.5)
+15.2 (15.0)
-15.2 (-15.0)
+24.1 (24.0)
*RF front end:*
measured (expected)
18.0 (18.0)
7.0 (7.0)
-18.0 (-18)
Technically, the error lights on the lock control board first showed up about
24 hours after upgrading from OVJ 3.1 to OVJ 3.2. However, the sudden increase
in problems on Thursday happened before the upgrade of OVJ and, combined with
the intermittent shim errors we've seen over the past month or two, this looks
like a hardware error unrelated to the recent software update.
Any suggestions on what to try next?
Thanks!
