Re: [AMMRL] Remote access to view automation queues

Hi Ken,

95% of users are going to be happy with "is my sample done yet", and Bruker's
IconNMR will output a simple html file to do that.

It's listed under Automation/Automation Window/HTML Export Files, and as long
as you put the same filename in both boxes it will spit out something like...

[cid:image002.png_at_01DB2FB8.486AD350]

I've got ours to dump the html file into a similar fileserver where the NMR
data is archived to, and what you do after that is entirely up to you.

IconWeb is a more interactive set of pages if you really want, but in practice
people still need to be physically present to load up the autosampler so they
might as well submit the experiments on the spectrometer PC while they're at it.
Either way, no need for vendor-specific software.

Thanks

Geoff

Dear Ken,

I can only talk about Bruker. In the case of Icon you only need to type a web
address from your navigator to see the queue.

Then there are different options you may implement, like user access with
password, allowing or denying queue manipulation and so on...

No software installation is needed, just a web browser.

Hope that helps. Best

Gabriel

Hi Everyone,

My facility houses Bruker, Agilent/Varian and JEOL systems which operate in
a queued walkup fashion. It has been requested that users be able to remotely
view these queues so that they don't have to walk all the way down the lab to
see which instruments are immediately available. (Did that sound snarkish?)

I'm curious if any of you have implemented anything like this? I know that
ICON, VnmrJ, and Delta can all be remotely accessed, but frankly I've never
implemented this. My fear is that each of these solutions would require
students to install the vendors NMR software to be able to accomplish this.
I would prefer a one size fits all solution. Something like VNC? I'd rather
not have to help 200 incoming and outgoing students annually get 3 different
NMR software systems installed and running on their laptops....

Best
