Hi,
It seems we have found the source of the problem, which is good news: CUPS
causes d-bus errors that crash applications in Alma Linux, TopSpin among them.
These TopSpin D-Bus errors occurred because CUPS introduced non-UTF-8 characters
into the 'CURPAR' variable in NMR datafiles (which appears listed in the
'ProcPars' tab). Other Linux software installed using CUPS also crashed.
As CUPS cannot be removed because too many packages depend on it —
including Bruker packages — one 'easy' solution is to halt or disable
CUPS, which fixes the problem.
Another solution could be a clean installation of Alma Linux. Although we cannot
print, the easy solution works for us, since Bruker will be installing a new
computer as part of an upgrade to the spectrometer in a few months' time.
Cheers!
Yolanda
