Hi Julian,
We’ve dealt with this issue a lot. When the sample release says
undefined, it means the microswitch inside the sample xpress isn’t
being triggered correctly. My screenshot circles the microswitch. This can
happen when the microswitch is faulty or when the alignment of the cassette
doesn’t let the pin go through the hole in the sample slot. My image
5577 shows where the hole is on the front of the cassette. 5578 shows the
pin forward in the right place when the sample release is “active”.
Going into service mode and actuating the sample release is helpfulfor
diagnosing this.
You can also look through the back of the sample xpress if you remove the
cover and see whether the microswitch is being depressed all the way if the
pin is able to make it through the hole.
This is a bit invasive, and I haven’t tried it but you can try putting
a small extension on the microswitch so it will be triggered. There’s
also a spring involved with pushing the whole assembly back to its Inactive
position that we’ve replaced before.
Happy to chat more.
Thanks,
Sarah

> Subject: [AMMRL] SampleXpress error: 117.310.251 Eject Failed
Hi everyone,
we faced an issue with our old SampleXpress: it was running in the automation
mode and from one sample to the other it did not eject the sample anymore and
shows the error "117.310.251 Eject Failed - The sample release could not be
activated" (see screenshot).
There is still the sample inside and when doing "cf" and changing the sample
exchange to BSMS I can still insert and eject a sample - only when changing
back in cf to the sample exchanger it still does not work (also not after
the classic restarting/booting of all the related devices). When trying to
eject, it only moves the grabber arm back and forth and it seems it waits
for the gas push, but there is none. I thought about a dirty sensor etc.
and tried to clean it carefully, but with no success.
Bruker hasn't been a big help either so far.
Has anyone of you faced similar problems and has an idea?
All the best
Julian
