I have memories that the capacitors in the PTS can go bad an cause errors
like this, maybe Bert can comment

Hi Penghui,
This would most likely be a problem with the 80 MHz harmonic generator. What
you are seeing, is a phase stability issue with the higher sideband generated
for the highband observe. The fact that it moved with the swap, the channel
board is probably OK. Easy fix.....?! it depends on the problem at hand. We
don't have schematics for these things.......

Dear AMMRLers,
We had a 600 MHz Agilent DDR2 system.
I recently noticed the proton channel (1st channel) tune has some problems.
It shows very noisy signals (first picture). But the carbon channel (channel
2) is normal.
If I swapped the cables on the VFS between channel 1 and channel 2, and the
proton went back to normal and I am having troubles with carbon tune now.
(proton tune back to normal 2nd picture).
When I check the signals coming out from the VFS on channel 1 and channel 2
with an oscilloscope, the "problematic" channel 1 signals look like 3rd picture
and the normal channel 2 signals look like the last picture.
Does this mean this VFS board has problems? If so, is there an easy way to
fix it?
Thanks,
Penghui
