It does sound like a hardware problem with your communications, but one
other note. If you happen to have a terminal emulator (hyperterm?), a
serial cable, and either a serial port or USB-RS232 adapter, you can watch
the messages while the CCU boots as least as far as it gets. That might or
might not give you some more information about where the failure is.
