Hi Geoff

it used to have a few more digits for a full date. But it is now just the
birthyear of the person who programmed that part of the BSMS software when
it first was introduced.

Bruker was said to be established in 1960 (https://www.bruker.com/en/about/history-new.html ),
so close, but not quite.

1964 was when the first FT-NMR experiments were being done
(https://mediatheque.lindau-nobel.org/laureates/ernst/cv ) but no idea if that was a coincidence or not.

Given I figured I’ll be typing in that password for quite a few more years
it’d be nice to know where it came from!

I think is the year Bruker was established, but I might be wrong

Without intending to derail the discussion too much…does anyone know
(or would admit to knowing) which lucky person’s birthday that is?

We're 100% fine with sharing the BSMS service login. The username must be
at least 3 characters but it doesn't matter what you use. I've started telling
people to just use nmrsu because it saves me having to type the above.
.. password is 1964

And with the samplecase, I believe if you change the lift parameters you have
to reset the sample changer to apply them. If it actually does anything.

Cheers,

Mike
