Re: [AMMRL] BSMS restart in NEO console

We were having a similar problem with our Avance III and it turned out to be
an overheating issue. After replacing a fan no problem...so far.

I do not know about NEO consoles, but I thought it might be something to consider.

Good luck.

Jay

In the NEO it's a router and it's not as simple as just swapping out the switch
in the older models of console. It's specifically configured and the spectrometer
has its own subnet... You can update the router firmware and that sometimes helps
with weird communication issues. However if the unthinkable happens and the router
configuration gets set back to the factory default as part of the firmware update
(shouldn't happen, but it is possible) then you'll either have to replace the router,
or if you're lucky we can help reload the correct configuration.

Also note--this is for the Cisco routers in some NEO consoles. The MikroTik routers
are a whole different beast and I'm not sure how much we can do with those. But
they don't seem to have the same issues that we run into with the Cisco routers.

Cheers,
Mike

Hi,

Maybe I‘m captain obvious but have you already tried to replace the
internal ethernet switch with a different one to see if it helps with the
underlying problem?

I assume you have tried the following:

type ha for hardware access: (File ending with 5549) You can click on the
BSMS Service GUI open button and click on the Shut Down button under BSMS status
(file ending with 5549). Or you can click on the BSMS/2 ELCB open button then
click on Service at the top of the list (file ending with 5551). Then click on
Reset ELCB (file ending with 5552)

Is there a way to selectively power-cycle an individual component in a NEO
without having to reboot the whole console?

In our case, every 2-3 weeks the BSMS loses connection to the rest of its NEO
400 console and to Topspin. The restart buttons on the BSMS service webpage
won’t restart it, and only a spectrometer reboot will get it going again.

Best Regards,
