I have seen that you have to enable the spooler. I guess that's a decision
the software developers made.
And if I were to talk to the Swiss, they would recommend you update to TS4.5.
Depending on what OS you're running, that might be a good idea just in general.
I don't remember TS4.2 being terrible, but I don't remember it being one of the really
good versions. I'm pretty sure they made some significant improvements even
between 4.2 and 4.3.
Regarding reading in old data sets and using them to start experiments, I believe
this is a bad idea. I had one user try to do that a little while ago and for
some reason it just turned on their X amplifier. And the amp shut down when
it went in to a "pulse length too long" condition. I suspect this is not the
desired behavior... I don't know of any good way to convert things over, so
your users are going to have to take the time to set up at least one new experiment
that they can then use as a reference and go back to how they're used to doing things.
