Though I can't speak for the AV III HD console, a few days ago, I tried
to move from Topspin 3.7.0 to 3.8.0 on my two bay AV-III system. My
problems were different (I too went back to TS3.7.0 due to this) i.e.
related to BSMS. Sorry for asking the obvious, but did the Diskless
download work OK once you moved to TS 3.8.0. Did you install a fresh
version of the same ? I can't recall specifically if they are different,
but when I generally move to a newer TS distro, I select the Diskless
provided with the installer, just in case.
