Good morning
I have a *TopSpin-3.7* / *Alma-9* / *Avance-III* system used mostly for
automation with ICON (BACS). The system is stable but occasionally the
workstation becomes slow when the second, external, non-spectrometer
network goes down. I have no grumbles about performance or stability (HP
Z4-G4 workstation from Bruker).
A desktop icon has never been necessary. The *XFCE* menu contains a Bruker
software category and the system is largely used for ICON automation so
routine users have no need of a desktop icon. It should be possible to add
desktop icons if required.
*XFCE* is the default desktop (no problems with this).
I have no experience with IBS.
