Hi Ulli,
one additional comment is regarding the vibrations. unless the lab is on the
lowest floor, on grade, you need to worry about the vibrations on the floor
between the steel beams.
Going directly over a beam might be more stable than between beams.

Normally big static things such as structural members aren't as big a problem
as big mobile things like elevators. Even if you can't get to an ideal
solution, usually you can figure out a good enough configuration to make
things work right. And cryoshims can usually be adjusted to compensate
for things like that as well.
