Many people that I know run their NMR off the nitrogen boiloff from a lN2 tank.
If that is a possibility for you, this will provide nitrogen with the required
low dewpoint.

We are considering purchasing an air compressor working for both 400 MHz (room
temp probe with BCU1; ordered) and 700 MHz (cryoprobe with BCU2; currently working
with a small air compressor temporarily). From Bruker's manual,BCU1 requires a dew
point of -50C for the compressed gas and BCU2 requires -80C. Now the situation we
are facing is the air compressor with dew point of -70C is much expensive and with
several months lead time. The one with the dew point of -40C is available and cheaper.
We hope to get the 400 MHz installed as early as possible and can't wait the one with
-70C ready.
We really appreciate you can provide us your experience and advice on choosing the
right air compressor.
1, Does the air compressor with dew point of -40C work well for your machines with BCU2?
2, Is a dryer a must have if you use the air compressor with dew point of -40C? If yes,
could you please provide the details (brand, model, cost, reliability, etc.)?
3, Do you think it must use the air compressor with dew point of -70C for NMR machines
with BCU2 (probable we only found one type with -70C)?
4, Could you please recommend the air compressor with dew point lower than -70C if we
must to have?
5, Any other advice for the compressed air supply with such required quality for our
case (equipped with BCU1 and BCU2)?
