My line is like the one in the picture Todd sent. The tool works similar to
the vacuum plug in old Cryoprobe? (you first screw it, and then pull to open)?

Replying to Bob:

Different transfer lines have different fittings. The tool I posted is for
the type of transfer line pictured below. For the ones with the KF fitting,
you can just remove the nut and clamp on to a vacuum line.

Hmm.

I'm not sure that's the tool you mean.

That looks like the valve you connect to the magnet vacuum port, either when
you are installing the magnet, or if you have de-energized the magnet and
want to break vacuum.

Anyone has picture of those "pieces" I would like to see if we have some.

Just to follow-up... The reason I ask is the engineer mentioned that most people
wait far too long. By the time you see evidence of it having gone soft, you have
likely been losing quite a bit of helium due to excessive boiloff for some time.

Apparently most transfer lines also come with the necessary equipment to pump
it down. They were some of the bit and pieces lying around the lab that I
had no idea of the purpose.
