RE: Removing Background signal for Si-29 NMR

Dr. Som,

I use a very simple means to minimize the glass peak in 29Si
spectra. I increase the pre-aquisition delay (DE on Bruker
instruments) by 4 to 8 dwell units. The glass signal has
usually decayed to noise by this time. Phasing angles can
be a bit larger. This works well for small molecules but
some signal loss can occur for Si polymers.

If you already have data sets collected, the same effect can
be achieved by left shifting the data set and excluding the
the first few points.
