Vernon,
I have also seen frequent sporadic spikes in my fids of CP experiments,
but only in samples containing carbon black. The spikes are not sufficient to
cause overflow warnings. Sometimes I see ACB errors during the run.
The ACB error goes away when experiment ended and spikes do not appear when I
resume running other materials. And of course the CP results are very noisy.
I have been told my probe should be able to handle carbon black.
Not sure if our observations are related. But I find Jochem's reply
interesting and tantalizing. If something electronic response is happening
in the rotor, how can this affect the oxygen outside and cause the coil to produce
spikes? I would imagine using N2 to spin the sample is costly, and
it would be difficult to test this idea.
I did try to use less power for CP. But I have not tried lowering my
TPPM decoupling. I think I should try that.
