Here is an impression of how the quadrupolar relaxation influences 35Cl:

I guess that the quadrupolar relaxation is already too big for OCl- and Cl2
to detect it in small amounts. But I think the only way to be sure is to try
it out.

Hi all,

I'm looking for some advice on the feasibility of some proposed experiments.
A user here would like to do Cl-NMR on aqueous electrolyte solutions. Specifically,
he would like to check for small amounts of OCl- and dissolved Cl2 in the presence
of 3M MgCl2. After searching the literature, I have been unable to locate any
publications that include similar experiments so I suspect that his proposed
experiments are not feasible... but my knowledge of NMR is superficial at best.
I'd be very interested in hearing from those with more experience whether these
experiments are possible. (For context, we have a 400 MHz Avance III HD with a
room temperature, broadband probe.)
