I have great interest in hearing from any of you who have experience
with the advantage (hopefully there is more saving than headache)
of RECYCLING HELIUM gas eflux from NMR magnets to an on-site
liquifier. I am especially interested in all of the following and
welcome any advice as we are just now at the planning stages:
1. Manifold construction, pressure relief mechanisms from magnet to
recycle manifold (Bruker's standard is 1psi I think).
2. Mechanics of recycling during helium fills
3. Type of tubing used especially if long distance. (It's 80 meters
from my Facility to the liquifier in the Physics building, so diffusion
loss and air intrusion are to be considered.) Particularly, is flexible
3/4" PVC good enough.
4. The economics/pricing of the recyled helium liquid from the
liquifing department.
