Robert,
The same mysterious problem arose on ONE of our Inova consoles at the
beginning of the year. We are also running 6.1B on Ultra5s (solaris 2.6). As
you have noted, the problem affects exp1 (and sometimes exp2) and occurred
eventually under almost all logins. Removing the bad exp1 (either by VNMR or
in Unix) and then copying a working experiment did not fix the problem.
However creating a new user (makeuser) lead to a working exp1 in the new
account. I had used the same work around, that is, not to use exp1 (and exp2
in some cases). BUT, as mysteriously as the problem arose, I went back and
checked today, and in ALL of the logins that I tried, exp1 is NOW WORKING!!!
Go figure?
So in 6 months time, everything will be back to normal (haha)!
Regards, and GO GATORS!
