Hi Ken,
I know some people recommend using a wooden dowel and wrapping the end with
some sort of paper towel/wipe and soaking it with solvent (isopropanol/methanol/ethanol)
and using it to try to clean out the spinner turbine.
If there's not too much gunk in there I know people who have had success
swapping the air connections at the top of the shim system--swap the white
and yellow hoses, and then turning the sample lift on. This will blow
a bunch of air through the holes used to spin the sample and possibly clear
out whatever is in there.
You'll probably want to have the samplecase in manual mode--push the big red
button and go into the service web and under sample handling set the lift to
be controlled by "standard BSMS lift" instead of the TTY01 setting it usually
uses for the samplecase. Then you can turn the lift on using ej.
After you're done, put the hoses back, pull out the big red button, and set
the sample changer to control the lift again.
