IT groups may have issues with computers running old versions of Linux such
as CentOS 5 or 7 since these OSs are end of life (EOL) and are no longer receiving
security updates. Fortunately one can run these old versions of Linux and TopSpin
in a VM running on a modern OS and still control the spectrometer. It adds a thin
layer of complexity but keeps everybody happy.
