We offer annual workshops for both solution NMR and SSNMR. The solution workshop
focuses on data processing for biochemical samples and tends to have enrollment
in the 20-30 range. The SSNMR workshop is hands-on, with an emphasis on sample
packing, probe tuning and handling, and basic experiment setup. The SSNMR workshop
is capped at 12 attendees to ensure that participants get enough hands-on experience.

I can't speak to the breakdown of the solution workshop, but the SSNMR workshop
typically has 1-2 industrial attendees a year and approximately 75% of attendees
are from outside our university. Internal users typically get 1:1 training as
part of our user program, or are supervised and trained by their research group.
The solution workshop is often recorded and shared online; I've heard very positive
feedback about that and we hope to continue doing that. Unfortunately it's not
possible to do the same with the SSNMR workshop. We charge a nominal fee to cover
expenses that are not allowable on federal funding (mostly food), and try to
arrange inexpensive housing via the university.
Shameless plug: we also tend to get 1 or 2 facility managers a year in the
SSNMR workshop. If your facility is building SSNMR capabilities and you think
you'd like a SSNMR refresher, we'd love to have you join us for the workshop.
Keep an eye out in spring for details about next year's NMRFAM SSNMR workshop
(typically late July/early August).
