primary issue is, not the error message.
Primary issue is an apparent weak lock power.
Step by step. It's an Avance III console and a QNP cryoprobe. Running with TopSpin 3.6.2
In principle everything is fine, exept the need of an an exceptional
High lock power to get a reasonable lock signal.
After some investigations there seems to be a good chance, that the lock
preamplifier inside the cryo probe and/or the T/R switch is broken. It's
possible to bypass the built in preamplifier and use the external HPPR
preamplifier.
This would decrease the S/N, of course.
I made this successfully in the past, about 10...15 years ago. The necessary
tool is UniTool and here the bsms Option. Using the "set Force-State" option
it should be possible to activate/deactivate the built in preamplifier.
Every of the displayed UniTool options works well, except "G" and "S". If you
press one of the letters, you get the
Error message
Illegal '%' escape in menu order string
Tried lower and capital letters.
I strongly assume, it's a tiny UniTool bug only. Maybe UniTool of another
TopSpin versions doesn't show this error?
A funny challenge for an retired old man.
