Sparky,

I have nmrsu as local user, but all other users are kept on  a LDAP
server I am running for my lab (uid, gid, home directory and shell). I
do not keep passwords, authentication is  through our Universities AD
server using kerberos.

I am using sssd as the backend on my spectrometers and processing
workstations (a mix of CentOs 7, Alma Linux and Fedora).

A couple of things I noticed with Topspin, in particular the 3.x
versions: As Topspin < 4.0 is 32 bit, the corresponding 32 bit versions
need to be installed (for example sssd-client and krb5-libs) in addition
to the 64 bit ones, and enumerate needs to be set to true in sssd.conf
for ICONNMR list and allow login for non local users.

I have not tried for nmrsu not to be local, but I think it should be
possible once everything is running properly.

Holger
