Post-Doctoral Fellow Position in NMR Microscopy
The Midwest Structure Elucidation Group in the Pharmaceutical Sciences
Division has an immediate opening for a post-doctoral fellow in the area of
NMR microimaging. We have a 500 MHz wide bore Varian Inova system with
microimaging capabilities, and are looking for a candidate to be part of a
multidisciplinary Pharmaceutical Sciences team. You will be responsible for
performing research in the area of NMR microimaging of pharmaceutical
solids, particularly in the areas of dissolution profiling and understanding
formulations. You will also be expected to identify and explore other
imaging technologies for their applicability to pharmaceutical solids
analysis, and provide editorial direction and effectively present work to
management and team audiences.
Objectives:
* Responsible for operation of NMR microimaging system.
* Design and conduct experiments in collaboration with
Pharmaceutical Sciences colleagues.
* Compare results from NMR imaging experiments with other more
widely used techniques, such as microCT and optical imaging techniques.
* Assist in preparation of a strategy for use of imaging
technologies in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Candidate Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, or a related field with a strong background
in imaging techniques is preferred. The candidate should possess a thorough
understanding of NMR spectroscopy/Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Excellent
written, verbal, and interpersonal skills are required. Over the course of
this fellowship, it is expected that there will be a variety of
opportunities for publication in peer-reviewed journals and presentation at
major conferences. Consistent with Pfizer AA rules for postdoctoral
fellows, this colleague would be hired for a term of 1 year, with an
optional renewal period of a second year.
