1 - We use economy tubes from Wilmad but we only have a 300MHz Neo system
2- Yes, we use new NMR tubes every time
3- Only heat samples - temperature set point less than or equal to 15 degrees
below solvent boiling point
4- before running first sample at elevated temperature I use a 'dummy sample'
with only solvent (like DMSO) to equilibrate the system, mostly the shim stack
temperature. This is not necessary for sequential samples at the same elevated
temperature.

We're revamping and/or putting in place various policies/procedural documents
now that we have moved on from the Era of the Flood and into the Era of
Shiny New NMRs.

I'm curious what kind of specific guidelines you have in place for variable
temperature NMR?

  *
Do you require a specific grade of NMR tube?
  *
New NMR tubes?
  *
What buffer do you allow between the solvent freezing/boiling point and the
target temperature? 10, 15, 20 degrees
  *
Anything else I'm missing?

Thanks in advance!
