Hello Jörn,

The ESB 63-40 "fuse" is actually a contactor (basically a big relay),
and may or may not be broken. We once had a similar problem on our
Avance 1 console as well. Some explanation of the system:

The contactor closes when you push the "on" button at the front panel of
the console, and then goes into self-holding using its terminals
numbered 13 and 14. If you push the "off" button, the self-holding
circuit is interrupted and the contactor opens.

Because it is a 24V contactor, you also need a transformer to provide
the control voltage; this can be found to the left of the green box. The
green box contains a rectifier to turn the AC output of the transformer
into DC. However, this is not really needed because the contactor can be
actuated by both AC and DC (although, now that I think about it again,
the contents of the green box possibly also served as a snubber circuit
for the contactor coil...maybe consult an electrician!).

In our case, we deleted the rectifier and replaced the contactor
(because we already had it at that point), but it is probably worth a
try to test without the rectifier/(snubber?) in the first place to
determine what actually needs replacing.
