I would like to follow up on my last post about He leaks on oxford magnet
(500MHz). Thank you everyone for your thoughtful suggestions and
recommendations. It has been 2 weeks since we repaired the 500MHz magnet.
David Gardner from SuperCon replaced the top-hat and all the o-rings.
He did an excellent job. Many of you probably know him. The average
He lost over the last 2 weeks is 0.48%, compared to 0.44% historical performance.
The magnet is 22+ years old. It should last for the next 10 years :) I
learnt a new skill as well, but I think it's too risky to do it on my own.
I will put it on the budget plan for NMR maintenance. Have a wonderful week.
