Hi Stu,
I went through a similar hair-tearing period on our AVIII 400, seeing that
error sporadically when running 3.5pl4-7 and 3.6.1. I never found a reliable
trigger either.
To recover from the error, an ii is not enough. You seem to need to close TopSpin,
but then on restarting, unlock the BSMS using the options under the service tab
(password = 1964). This avoids the need to power cycle the console completely.
All I can say is that this error magically disappeared ever since 3.6.2 and
so maybe its time for that TopSpin update - 3.5pl7 was released 7.5 years
ago now...
Thanks
Geoff

Hello Stu,
we have this problem happening for a couple of years now on our 500 Avance
III HD. Every time, the ELCB reset clears the error. We could never identify
what causes the system to lock up with "Key not valid". We cannot reproduce
the behavior on demand to be able to investigate. It remains an annoyance
that goes away with the ELCB restart. What helps is that the instrument is
operated in a manual mode (no ICON) and this problem only pops up once every
couple of weeks. We instructed users how to do the ELCB reset or we do it
via a remote desktop...
Best,
Evgenii
