Hi Emily

Congrats on getting helium recovery!

I am assuming you are collecting the boil-off gas? But you say the magnets
are not hooked up? If it is just boil-off collection, then flow rate could
be so low that the 10 min is a big deal? Is this 1 break or 1 at each magnet
for 10 min(how many magnets?)? If you are collecting boil-off and making
liquid what is the daily rate of production that may help us give you a better
answer?

For a fully connected system, boil-off collection and fill exhaust collection:

We have to break our system from time to time. Short swaps of stuff on the
system does not really have much affect (when we swap a KF fitting to replace
a sensor, 2 min or so). A longer break can be an issue, but it depends on
what you think your purifier can handle at the time. You may have to regenerate
sooner or you may actually pass stuff to the liquifier if the purifier gets
over whelmed. Personally I don't think 10 minutes is that bad especially if
they can cover the holes when they can. We had a valve get left open and had
to dump ~15L of liquid worth of gas once, not fun, but that valve was open
for hours! The gas analyzers we had in line reported about 30% impurities so
we dumped it.

I always recommend purging or putting a vacuum on pieces going onto the system
if you can. But each system can be so different it is hard to make a blanket
statement that will apply to all situations.

Best of luck.
Greg
