AMMRL: Lock signal baseline instability

To those with Varian spectrometers:

The lock signal display seems to be a little jumpy lately on one of our
Varian machines. Normally, the initial section of the baseline should
stay still and the LOCK LEVEL reading at the baseline should be 0. But,
once in a while, the baseline would jump up or down and make the LOCK
LEVEL reading at the baseline non-zero. Rebooting the spectrometer does
not seem to be helpful. Also, doing gradient shimming tends to change
the baseline position. Have any of you had similar problems like these
before and figured out what the cause is? I will summarize the responses
received.

Thanks and regards,
Shaw
