Position Open : Spectroscopy Software Product Manager (www.acdlabs.com)
Advanced Chemistry Development, ACD, is a fast moving company dedicated to
staying at the forefront of chemistry software through continuous
innovation. The Spectroscopy product line is an integral part of both
Chemical and Pharmaceutical analytical laboratories worldwide. The NMR and
MS solutions particularly are presently the de facto industry standards. The
entire solution includes modules for IR and UV-Vis spectroscopy. We are
looking for an experienced member of the analytical community to join the
spectroscopy team and help innovate the next product offerings for our
customers.
The responsibilities will include coaching our technical support team
through product issues that require spectroscopic expertise and developing
compelling business cases for new product concepts. Marketing support
activities, such as public speaking, attendance at trade shows, development
of collateral and support of the sales force are key aspects of the
position. The position also carries responsibility for focused strategic
activities, such as establishing new business development relationships and
maintaining successful collaborations with our wide network of partners.
The Spectroscopy product manager will not be acting alone, but rather with
the full support of a worldwide sales and distribution network, high
performance marketing team with a global reach, and a highly talented staff
of technical support professionals. This individual will report to the Vice
President of Scientific Development and Marketing and collaborate closely
with product managers of our PhysChem and Chromatography lines.
It is essential that this individual be prepared to take on significant
responsibility, work without supervision, and have the agility to rapidly
switch between scientific and business concerns. Public speaking skills are
a must as is the willingness to travel. Knowledge of Mass Spectrometry and
NMR are a must, and additional benefit will be derived from specific
expertise in many of the following areas: infrared spectroscopy, UV-Vis
spectroscopy, computational chemistry/cheminformatics, drug discovery or
chemical research, analytical chemistry, software development and project
management. Evidence of success in a previous position of responsibility
and an international reputation in a related scientific discipline will be
differentiating factors among candidates.
Working at ACD can be characterized by two words: responsibility and
ownership. If you have the necessary skills and desire the opportunity to
take ownership and responsibility for delivering innovative software
technologies for Spectroscopy to the industry, please send a CV highlighting
your appropriate qualifications (by email in MS Word format), and the names
of up to three references to
Antony J. Williams, Ph.D.
