Dear Ivan,

which kind of magnet is this exactly? In my humble opinion rebuilding it only
makes sense if it's a flat-bottom unshielded 600 with aluminium bottom plate -
these may, especially in humid climates and experiencing considerable condensation
down the nitrogen heat sinks, see some (contact) corrosion at the bottom main seal.
The same may be true if you do lots of low temperature work which may lead to
condensation around the black bore flanges.

If your magnet is either a round-bottom shielded or unshielded magnet (whose
main body consists of two stainless steel shells) then I would leave it alone -
specifically if your lab doesn't happen to run a helium recycling plant. Way
too expensive (1000 l helium plus a good two weeks worth of specialized work)…
