Hi Ken

Shouting out from Brukerland, what you need is essentially watching the
ICON queue, then IconNMR implements a built-in embedded web server that can
be accessed via any web browser. There are different levels of access
control you can implement, all the way upto stopping a given experiment
and starting. Depends on how much power you want to leave in the hands of
users.
The HTTPS:// version listens on Port 8016 and what I will do is just
type a URL such as
"https://rajannmr.chem.washington.edu:8016"
(in this dummy example, 'rajannmr' is the NMR host name and the rest is the
domain name of your organization. Substitute, accordingly).

Now, you have to install CA and host specific certificates for the HTTPS to
work properly. That's at the Linux level sysadmin chore. Bruker used to
generate their own 'localized' CA and hostspecific certificates but they
have deprecated this for quite some time now - a good move from security
point of view.

Well, if you are super confident that your IT is taking care of your basic
security i.e. by providing you a non-routable IPv4 address such as
10.x.x.x. or 196.x.x.x. then, you might go with the non-secure
"http://myhost.mydomain.edu:8015. But, it is highly discouraged in this
day and age to run a webserver that listens without encryption.
