Dear NMR friends,
We are in the fortunate position of being able to upgrade our existing 800/63
2K Oxford magnet (energised in 2004 at HWB-NMR, University of Birmingham, UK)
to a 1.2 GHz Bruker Ascend magnet (delivery expected in 2025). Unfortunately,
this amazingly well-behaved, super-stable 3.2 tonne 800 magnet is unshielded
(5 G at ~6m radial and ~7.5m axial from magnet centre) and regretfully we are
unable to re-locate it within our existing building.
Ideally, it would be re-energised and given a new home if possible, and we
wonder if there would be any interest out there for this great magnet
(decommissioning/shipping costs only). Magnet only. Decommissioning would take
place in the first few weeks of 2025.
We welcome any interest, and are happy to recommend a very experienced and
reliable UK-based ex-Oxford Instr service engineer for decommissioning/shipping/recommissioning.
Above all, we really hope we can offer our 800 a new lease of life continuing
to serve the research community for another 20+ years!
