I recently updated three NEO spectrometers, running HP-Z4 workstations, from
TopSpin 4.1.4 to 4.5.0. The results are as follows:
1. The first workstation was running CentOS 7.9. During the TopSpin software
installation three software packages were upgraded:
xcb-util-renderutil.x86_64
xcb-util-wm.x86_64
openssl11-libs.x86_64
Automatic software update was selected.
There was a problem with the firmware update for the SACA VTA that controls
the temperature of the SampleCase. Bruker Center was able to send BsmsCheckDownload_250414,
and samplecase_firmware_v13. The firmware problem was corrected successfully.
1. The next workstation was running CentOS 7.5. During the TopSpin software
installation the eight required software packages were unsuccessfully upgraded.
In addition to the three packages listed above, the five additional packages were:
fribidi.x86_64
libglvnd-glx.x86_64
libglvnd-egl.x86_64
libglvnd.x86_64
libwayland-egl.x86_64
It was not recorded which package failed to load. Since the load of the software
updates was not successful the TopSpin software update did not complete successfully.
It was decided to continue to use TopSpin 4.1.4.
1. The third workstation was running CentOS 7.9. The same packages and CheckDownload
files as the first upgrade were loaded successfully

I installed it on CentOS 7.5 a few weeks ago, despite the risks (I was hoping
it would fix my “Cannot run single acquisition” ICON bug, I
posted about that a few months ago). There was one library, libglvnd-egl.x86_64,
that failed to install, but Topspin has been running smoothly so far. ICON-NMR is
working (can’t comment on Sample Case compatibility, it works with a
Sample Xpress-lite).
