I plan to retire at the end of September after 17 years at Caltech in the
liquids NMR facility within the Division of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering
(CCE). The division management has approved beginning the search for my
replacement now in the hopes that the new person could start in time to
overlap with me for a while.

Caltech's Liquid NMR Facility The Liquids NMR facility is part of the Division
of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (CCE), and located in the Crellin
sub-basement, Room B250.

Briefly, the lab has all of the solution NMR spectrometers on campus (Caltech
is actually a pretty small place), it serves mostly chemists, with a few
biologists and geologists thrown in. CCE has a separate solids NMR facility
with its own staff. We are adjacent to the pulsed EPR facility, managed
separately, but we share a helium recovery system with them.
I would be happy to answer questions about the lab, either by email or at the
upcoming ENC. Questions about the position or the search process should be
referred to Caltech's HR department.
